Mayo employs cost-cutting measures; layoffs not among them

During an economic slowdown, rumors about layoffs can spread even if they have no basis in fact. And a rumor about a pending layoff of 20 percent of the Mayo Clinic administrative staff, such as clerical workers and unit managers, is unfounded said spokesman Adam Brase. "I did some checking. This is indeed a rumor," Brase said, in response to an inquiry about the rumor making rounds by e-mail.
