Mayo looks to diversify MS research

By Kelley Luckstein

Mayo Clinic has started a new center designed to jump-start research of multiple sclerosis. MS will be studied, along with other conditions that damage myelin, the protective covering that surrounds nerves.

Dr. Moses Rodriguez, director of the new Mayo Clinic MS Center, said collaboration between scientists from diverse fields will be encouraged…

"When I came to Mayo Clinic we had no one working on MS," Rodriguez said. But during the past two decades, Mayo's MS team has grown to 50 researchers.
