Sheriff's deputy still hospitalized after Christmas Day crash

Posted on January 11th, 2010 by Kelley Luckstein

A Christmas morning crash has temporarily put the career of a Wabasha County sheriff's deputy on hold.

Thirty-year-old Andy Hamann is still hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic's St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester with numerous broken bones after a stolen vehicle collided with his squad.

In fact there has been no Christmas celebration yet for Hamann and his wife Emily.

Emily says, "That ankle is bad.  It's about as bad as ankles get." She knows because she works at the Mayo Clinic in orthopedic surgery as a physician's assistant.
