Mayo Clinic touting economic impact

By Kelley Luckstein

The Mayo Clinic wants people to know that it has a big impact economically — to the tune of $9.6 billion for the state of Minnesota and $22 billion for the nation as a whole. And that’s just for 2008…

Dr. Glenn Forbes, the CEO of Mayo's Rochester operations, said the recession made it important to do the study because "decisions are being made at the state Legislature and nationally that will affect the security of the organization." "I think it's important people understand what Mayo clinic does."
