First Coast health care coalition volunteers new guidelines to prevent pill-popping

As pill mills are shut down and the supply of prescription drugs in the streets slows, addicts often turn to the one place that sees patients 24 hours a day: hospital emergency rooms…The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville will also adopt the guidelines, said CEO William Rupp."Our emergency room will continue to prescribe pain control for acute pain, but we're not going to be a supplier for narcotics," Rupp said.
