Gov. Mark Dayton reiterated his support on Monday for a high-speed rail line from Rochester to the Twin Cities. The boost comes as Olmsted County officials are seeking $15 million from the state to help design the rail line. Speaking at a news conference at St. Paul's Union Depot Station with U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Dayton said it make sense to connect Rochester and Mayo Clinic with the Twin Cities by rail. He said the key is convincing lawmakers on the need to invest in rail.
