While it is impossible to tell how badly the flu will strike this year, predictions are that it will be similar to last year’s much more mild flu season. In 2009-10, the H1N1 virus caused the first influenza pandemic in more than 40 years. “Strains apparently have not changed since last year,” said Dr. C.J. Menagh, a pediatrician at Mayo Clinic Health System inLa Crosse and head of the system’s immunization committee. “That would argue that perhaps we’ll have a little lighter flu season, but there are still plenty of people out there not immunized.”
