By

A 34-year-old La Crosse man is recovering today after suffering cardiac arrest during Saturday’s Maple Leaf Parade. Quick thinking and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) saved his life. "We were just kind hanging out in little small groups watching the parade and he was just standing there and all of a sudden he just dropped," said Kathy Kendhammer of her husband William… Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse Cardiologist Monique Freund says Kendhammer suffered cardiac arrest due to an unknown genetic condition called, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, which affects about 1 in 500 people.
