For breast cancer survivor Becky Schrivener of Kearney, the illness is not a moment, but a marathon…Though it was clear Schrivener had cancer, doctors were unsure what kind and, consequently, how to treat it. She ultimately received a solid diagnosis at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla…“They told me I’d probably had cancer for about seven years,” she said. “My breast cancer was not hard, so there was no way to tell without a mammogram.” Mayo Clinic recommended she go to the University of Kansas Hospital, where — incidentally — a friend of Schrivener’s went to be treated as well.
