In October 2008, Gingrich penned an op-ed with Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., saying that health care reform should be part of a new administration's agenda. In a passage about the benefits of an institute to compare the effectiveness of the country's "best providers of care" Intermountain Healthcare in Utah, a Center for Health Transformation client, and the Mayo Clinic are listed as "innovators … that deliver the best possible care at the lowest cost."
