It's no secret that kicking the habit is a tough process for many smokers, but a new study hopes to tackle smoking cessation the same way chronic health conditions are treated -- with long-term accountability partners who can provide what researchers call "persistent attention." While some may call it nagging, a study that just wrapped up at the University of Minnesota -- and another starting at the Mayo Clinic -- is examining the idea that the buddy system may be the key to quitting for keeps.
