Likely costing over a billion dollars, no one can doubt that the proposed Rochester to Twin Cities high-speed rail link would be a hefty public investment. However, it would be ill-conceived to dismiss the proposal on price-tag alone… road accidents are the number one cause of death by accidental injury to children worldwide…We also shouldn't undervalue the connectivity Zip Rail would provide. Even if we just look at Rochester, we can see how the millions of national and international visitors to this city each year will have greater incentive to visit the Twin Cities area if comfortable high-speed rail is made available to them.
