Secondhand Health Hazards

Smoking by Proxy: A study found that hookah bar patrons who did not smoke still inhaled enough toxins to give them the carbon monoxide levels of a cigarette smoker, increasing their risk for heart disease. Worse, “just one night at a hookah bar can be the equivalent of inhaling an entire pack of cigarettes,” says Richard D. Hurt, M.D., director of the Nicotine Dependence Center at the Mayo Clinic.
