But while one doctor says there's no surefire way to prevent becoming ill, she believes exercising healthy habits before your trip can help your body in the event that you do pick up a bug. "Eat well, stay hydrated, get exercise and just try to keep yourself in the best health you can," said Dr. Margo Sherman, of the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. "If you do that before you actually go on a trip, you'll then have more reserve in case you do get sick."
