Mayo Clinic held a systemwide memorial Monday for members of the Florida flight crew who died in a helicopter crash. Surgeon Dr. Luis Bonilla, procurement technician David Hines and pilot E. Hoke Smith were killed Dec. 26 while en route to retrieve a donated heart for transplant. On Monday, as part of a memorial service that was carried live at virtually all Mayo Clinic locations in Rochester and the surrounding region, Arizona and Florida, the giant bronze doors of the Mayo Plummer Building in Rochester were closed for the first time since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
