A request for $13.5 million in state funding to expand the Hormel Institute in Austin won praise and support on Tuesday from state lawmakers…Austin's Port Authority is seeking $13.5 million from the state to expand the institute to create the International Center of Research and Technology. The 56,000-square-foot addition would house 15 state-of-the-art research labs and research technology space. Those facilities would support a new cancer research partnership agreement with Mayo Clinic.
