Mayo Clinic signs California genome sequencing firm

By

To support its move toward personalized medicine, Mayo Clinic is joining forces with a California genome sequencing company. Complete Genomics Inc. announced Monday that Mayo Clinic’s Center for Individualized Medicine had chosen it to provide whole human genome sequencing on an outsource basis. Mayo Clinic will continue to do its own sequencing also, but this relationship will help cover large research projects. “Access to quality whole genome sequencing services can only expedite our efforts to improve care for all of our patients with new individualized medicine tools and techniques,” said Dr. Gianrico Farrugia, director of Mayo Clinic’s Center for Individualized Medicine, in the announcement.
