Recent study shows hefty price tag from underage drinking

By

The Mayo Clinic says it's a $755 million price tag every year for hospitals in this country.  That figure comes from the cost to treat injuries that result from underage drinking. Brien Gleeson, Addictions Therapist for the Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire says, "Just about anything that can happen to humans that's bad, ends up being correlated with alcohol use. It does show up again and again in studies that this is an area of the country that does have a high incidence of drinking, of underage drinking, of drinking and driving. I mean alcohol is definitely king around here when it comes to drugs and drug abuse."
