The Mayo Clinic saw a significant jump in both revenue and operating income last year as earnings for the nonprofit hospital system grew to just over $610 million. The improvement in 2011 is noteworthy because it comes after strong financial results the previous year that allowed the Rochester, Minn.-based clinic to initiate several construction projects across its health system, which spans five states. Mayo Clinic officials declined to comment Wednesday on the numbers, saying they will be discussed at a news conference today.
