Minnesota Senate Panel OKs Bill Allowing Cancer Centers

By

A Senate committee voted this week to allow HealthEast to move a radiation treatment machine for cancer patients from its hospital in Maplewood to Woodbury, where it will operate inside the Woodwinds Health Campus.  The HealthEast issue was just one aspect of a bill that's meant to eventually resolve the contentious question of where expensive radiation treatment centers can be built in Minnesota. The bill now moves to the Senate floor…The Mayo Clinic spent about $10 million to open a facility in Northfield - just over the line from Dakota County, which is covered by the moratorium.
