The Czech Republic minister of health visited Mayo Clinic this week to see with his own eyes what a $10 million European Union investment is bringing. The EU, in the largest such grant ever, gave $200 million toward creation of a new International Clinical Research Center in Brno, Czech Republic. Czech Minister of Health Dr. Leos Heger said "there is a huge building being built in Brno. … It should be finished at the end of the year." His role in the Czech Republic is similar to that of the U.S. secretary of Health and Human Services.
