Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota plans to expand its Blue Performance Network to include individual and family health insurance policies, but there's a surprise for southeastern Minnesotans about how Mayo Clinic is ranked… Mayo spokesman Karl Oestreich didn't directly address whether Mayo administrators disagree with that ranking. But, he said, "I think our model is a good model to follow." The goal of Mayo is to provide care in the most appropriate setting, Oestreich said. He wasn't sure if the new Blue Cross products will affect the patient census at Mayo in Rochester. "Looking at Mayo Clinic and Mayo Clinic Health System, we're uniquely set up to deliver care in the appropriate setting," he said.
