Florida plans to invest nearly $100 million to expand its Northeast Florida presence, by adding on to its existing hospital and developing a new primary care center on the Southside. The existing 214-bed hospital is nearly 100 percent occupied, driving the need for additional beds, said Bob Brigham, chief administrative officer of the Florida campus off San Pablo Road. The $80 million expansion, which will add two floors and 90 beds, should give the hospital room to grow for the next five years, Brigham said.
