Study Looks Into Flu Shot Effectiveness

Posted on October 15th, 2012 by Kelley Luckstein

Flu season is here. The first case in Olmsted County was reported last week. But new Monday, a study done by the University of Minnesota found vaccines for the flu could be improved…Dr. Gregory Poland of Mayo Clinic says the study is less for individuals and more for government and policy makers. "What the authors are saying is that they're fearful that there is complacency in the system and that people think that the efficacy of the vaccine is higher than it is, therefore they're not motivated to invest, and this will be billions, to invest the billions we need to get the vaccines," he said.
