Barrett’s Esophagus: Singer Morrissey Reveals Health Woes

Barrett's esophagus is a common condition among people who also suffer from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which is when acid is regurgitated back into the esophagus from the stomach, the Mayo Clinic reported…While the risk is small, Barrett's esophagus is known to raise the likelihood of a person developing esophageal cancer. However, the Mayo Clinic emphasized that most people with the condition will not go on to develop esophageal cancer, especially if there is no dysplasia (early signs of cancerous changes in the esophagus) present.
