Mayo Clinic expansion bill introduced

By Logan Lafferty

A bill that would give the Mayo Clinic $585 million in taxpayer money to develop downtown Rochester has been introduced at the Legislature…Rep. Kim Norton, DFL-Rochester, is the chief author of the House bill. She says the public subsidy is needed to support Mayo's private spending. "It's going to be kind of fast and furious in the next 15 to 20 years and our current levels of funding are not going to be able to keep up with that growth," Norton said.
