Cabaret star Michael York’s secret battle against killer illness

Michael York’s pallid appearance earlier this year at a reunion with his Cabaret co-stars Marisa Berenson and Joel Grey alarmed fans who could barely recognise him because of his swollen features.  Now, the 71-year-old star of Logan’s Run and The Three Musketeers has disclosed that he has been fighting a battle against a rare blood disorder that nearly killed him…Last summer, York underwent a stem-cell transplant at the Mayo Clinic in America. He was given chemotherapy, “during which, sadly, all my hair disappeared”.
