With 741 cars in less than four hours, it might have been the busiest drive-through in Rochester on Saturday. But customers weren't at the Mayo Clinic drop-off location to order burgers and fries; they were there to dispose of what eventually totaled 2,270 pounds of expired, unused or unwanted prescription medications. "This is amazing," said Denise Nesbitt, a Mayo Clinic pharmacist who helped coordinate the prescription drug take-back with the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office and the Rochester Police Department. In the first 30 minutes alone, more than 100 cars passed through the drive-up location…With still almost a half hour for people to drop off drugs, the Rochester site had filled 144 boxes with drugs, weighing at least 1,600 pounds. That's a huge increase from the 39 boxes collected last year, Nesbitt said.
