Response times play big part in Stroke patients’ recovery

Mark McNeary had just wrapped up chores on his horse ranch when he felt a piercing pain above his right eye. Something odd was happening to his throat, too. Doctors in Kingman contacted Mayo Clinic Arizona for a live telemedicine conference with a neurologist. Mark was having a stroke, and the McNearys' immediate attention to his symptoms was about to pay off…Physician Joyce Lee-Iannotti, a Mayo neurology fellow, reviewed the cases of 209 patients with stroke symptoms who were taken to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix by emergency medical services.
