Friday was a big day for Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. The clinic will now offer urgent care instead of express care to better meet patient's needs. "Urgent care is focused on a broader scope than our KEYC Mankato CBS-Fox Logoexpress care setting was," explained Mayo Clinic Administrator Amy Long.  "It does not have an age restriction like we had in the express care so it is really putting service in place for after hours and weekend availability."

Reach: KEYC-12, is a Fox and CBS affiliate which broadcasts from Mankato, Minn.

Context: Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont is opening its new Urgent Care on Friday, Nov. 2. The Clinic at Walmart will discontinue operations the same day, which is part of the transition plan that Mayo Clinic Health System announced in May. “Urgent Care allows our patients access to additional same-day care right here in Fairmont,” says Marie Morris, M.D., Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont medical director. “We’re able to treat patients of all ages and those with slightly more complex needs in the Urgent Care setting. The Clinic at Walmart didn’t provide as many treatment options for patients and had certain age restrictions.”  You can read more about the new facility here.
