Especially if you're a child…But Jennifer Nelson, director of clinical dietetics at the Mayo Clinic, said offering children too many sugary foods can foster long-term preferences for sweets. "My preference is taking the longer view of establishing dietary patterns," she said. "Maybe we have chocolate milk Wednesdays, but why do we need chocolate milk every day?"
