Minimally invasive surgery on patients with early-stage esophageal cancer produced survival rates similar to conventional open surgery, a retrospective comparison showed.
“Endoscopic therapy ... appears to be a reasonable alternative to esophagectomy in patients with mucosal esophageal adenocarcinoma," Kenneth K. Wang, MD, of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and co-authors concluded.
