Banner, Mayo get $1.7M from Michael Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research

Banner Sun Health Research Institute and Mayo Clinic Arizona received $1.7 million from the Michael J. Fox Foundation to boost research into Parkinson’s disease. 


The two sites host the Arizona Parkinson’s Disease Consortium. 

Research projects include:

  • The Brain and Body Donation Program, which provides samples to help establish links between underlying pathology and outward clinical features of Parkinson’s disease.
  • Refining statistical models for the development of PD and dementia related to the disease.
  • The search for biomarkers of Parkinson’s disease.
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms of Parkinson’s.
