Banner Sun Health Research Institute and Mayo Clinic Arizona received $1.7 million from the Michael J. Fox Foundation to boost research into Parkinson’s disease.
The two sites host the Arizona Parkinson’s Disease Consortium.
Research projects include:
- The Brain and Body Donation Program, which provides samples to help establish links between underlying pathology and outward clinical features of Parkinson’s disease.
- Refining statistical models for the development of PD and dementia related to the disease.
- The search for biomarkers of Parkinson’s disease.
- Gastrointestinal symptoms of Parkinson’s.
