New Alzheimer’s study, good news for mobile mice

By Kelley Luckstein

Researchers in Florida have discovered a link between cell phone use and the prevention, and possible reversal of Alzheimer's disease. But some say the preliminary study has not been tested on humans, and may not prove anything at all.

The report was released on Wednesday in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease and discusses how a gadget like a cell phone may have reduced or reversed signs of Alzheimer's in mice…

Dr. David Knopman said, "What goes on in mice is not the same as what goes on in humans." The research study involved mice that were genetically engineered to develop Alzheimer's disease, a disease that can take decades to develop in humans. The mice were then exposed to electromagnetic radiation, much like the waves coming out of a gadget like a cell phone.
