Ownership of Mayowood will be transferred from the History Center of Olmsted County to Mayo Clinic, pending approval later this month…The agreement calls for the historic mansion, built by Dr. Charles H. Mayo 100 years ago, to receive an immediate infusion of funding from Mayo Clinic. In the bargain, the history center will retain the right to open the property to the public for up to 160 days per year. "Mayowood is an integral part of the community and of Mayo Clinic," said Dr. John Noseworthy, CEO of Mayo Clinic. "It has reached the point where Mayowood needs an infusion of capital to restore it."
