Doctors at the Mayo Clinic believe a simple urine test could predict whether women will go on to develop potentially fatal pre-eclampsia during pregnancy. The doctors found that certainkidney cells are found in the urine of women who have high blood pressure and are more likely to develop pre-eclampsia. This separates them from women who justsuffer high blood pressure. A team of researchers led by Dr Vesna Garovic tested 315 women and found that none of the women with normal pregnanciestested positive for the kidney cells.
