Now that the Minnesota Department of Transportation has officially designated the so-called "river route" as its choice for a possible high-speed rail line linking Minneapolis and Chicago, it would be easy to second-guess those who have lobbied for a route through Rochester…But that doesn't mean Rochester, Olmsted County, Mayo Clinic and everyone else involved in the lobbying process were wasting their time.
