Lucky for me, I remembered something I’d once read on MayoClinic.com: “Mild to moderate physical activity is usually OK if you have a garden-variety cold and no fever.” The article goes into more depth, but the gist is this: If a person’s symptoms are “above the neck” (sneezing, runny nose, minor sore throat), exercise is usually fine. Just take it easy — let your body be your guide and all that. If a person’s symptoms are “below the neck” (chest congestion, hacking cough, upset stomach, muscle aches), don’t exercise.
