Helicopter experts agree it’s too early to speculate about what caused the fatal crash in Clay County of a helicopter on an organ transport mission last month. Whether it was pilot error, engine failure, weather conditions or some other cause won’t be known until federal aviation crash investigators complete their examination of the wreckage and other evidence and release their report, which could be a year or more from now.
