I applaud the news that some Rochester-area legislators are planning a proposal to increase the price of tobacco in Minnesota. A recent study conducted by the Mayo Clinic showed that Olmsted County experienced a 45 percent decline in heart attacks and a 50 percent decline in sudden cardiac deaths after implementation of smoke-free laws.
