Chávez Plans to Undergo New Operation for Cancer

President Hugo Chávez told his nation Tuesday that he will undergo a third operation to remove a possibly malignant lesion in his pelvis, casting Venezuela into new political turmoil months after its leader said he was cured of an undisclosed cancer… The fact that the tumor recurred relatively quickly after being removed "is not a good sign," said Axel Grothey, professor of oncology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. "The next year or two will be really critical for him as a patient...All of these political things aside, he is someone who is fighting for his life."
