The incidence of melanoma, the most dangerous form, continues to rise in most age groups in the U.S. It increased eightfold in women ages 18 to 39 from 1970 to 2009, according to a recent study from the Mayo Clinic. It pointed to the use of tanning beds by young women as a possible cause for the increase.
