New York Leads in H-1B Demand

The New York metropolitan area has the highest demand for H-1B workers in the U.S., according to a new study that examines regional use of the work visa… The report argues that some metro areas are using temporary workers "to address what they see as a lack of high-skilled labor in the local marketplace." In Rochester, Minn., for instance, the largest user of H-1B workers is the Mayo Clinic, where the unemployment rate was 1.5% among those with bachelor's degrees and above in 2010, according to the report.
