Mayo Clinic warns teens of tanning

By Logan Lafferty

Doctors will diagnose more than 76 thousand new melanomas in the U.S. this year, according to the American Cancer Society's estimate. And that number has been rising for at least 30 years. So Mayo Clinic Health System is sending representatives to area schools to provide education and a clear message about the cancer. "Because it's soon to be prom season, we thought this was a prime time to talk to the high school students about the dangers of melanoma and the dangers of tanning and tanning beds and going out in the sun," says Mary Kief of Mayo Clinic Health System.
