Jacksonville Business Journal, Donna Marathon returns this weekend by Junior Skepple — Since its inception in 2008, Donna Marathon Weekend has raised more than $5 million in funding for The Donna Foundation supporting breast cancer research at Mayo Clinic and providing financial assistance to those living with breast cancer.

Context: Founder Donna Deegan is a three-time breast cancer survivor who was treated at Mayo Clinic. With funds from the marathon and related events, Donna – and thousands of participants from around the world – have helped Mayo Clinic establish the Breast Cancer Translational Genomics Program. As a result, researchers have begun to uncover new information about breast cancer and develop better ways to diagnose and treat the disease, as well as other cancers. Keith Knutson. Ph.D., a Mayo Clinic researcher, focuses on the immunology and immunotherapy of breast and ovarian cancers,.  You can read more about his research  here.
