Our view: Mayo works hard to earn No.1 rank

Routine excellence can sometimes be taken for granted. But we should not overlook the routine excellence of Mayo Clinic, which last week was named, for the fourth consecutive year, as the No. 1 hospital in the nation. The annual U.S. News & World Report study again listed Mayo ahead of its traditional rivals for the top rung: Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, and Cleveland Clinic.
